Two studios, one community

Mad Lab Academy exists to make creating accessible and approachable. We pair a fully equipped maker space with a working art studio under one roof. Bring an idea into the Art Studio for painting, drawing, mixed media, classes, or a creative project, then move into the Maker Workshop for 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC, prototyping, or building a practical or imaginative project.

Modern tools make design and fabrication more accessible than any other time in history. We believe these tools should be available, local, and the best way to learn is by doing,

The people behind the studio

Staff portraits and bios are on the way — these cards will hold a photo and bio for each role.

  • Amy Rieg

    Co-founder & art teacher

Amy is an artist, educator, and co-founder of Mad Lab ArTech Academy. She studied Art Education at Millersville University and has taught every age from elementary through high school, with a soft spot for students who learn differently. Her teaching style is firm but playful; experiment, make mistakes, find out what you’re capable of. Her own mixed-media and encaustic work has shown in Pennsylvania and Colorado, and around Lititz she’s known for a Second Place in Mixed Media at the Fine Arts Outdoor Show and for judging plein air at Taste of Lititz. At Mad Lab you’ll usually find her teaching a class, dreaming up the next unusual project, or settling the question of how much glitter is too much glitter. Her answer? No such thing.

  • Greg Herzog

    Founder and tech ops

Operates the maker space, supports the technical infrastructure, and maintains the workshop equipment.

  • Jess Georg

    Resident Artist

Jessica is a resident artist with Mad Lab through Sketch Creative Studio. Jessica is an artist, educator, and lifelong maker with more than 30 years of experience teaching artists of all ages. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Art Education from Millersville University and a master’s degree from Wilkes University, and has taught a wide range of media including drawing, painting, sculpture, graphic design, and mixed media. Her creativity extends beyond the art room into theater design, upcycling, decorating, and just about anything that involves making or reimagining something.

Four things we won’t compromise on

  • 01

    Make first

Studio time and open access come before credentials. If you want to create something, you belong here.

  • 02

    Two sides, one community

Two studios: digital fabrication and multi-media art. Two models: open access and structured workshops. The boundary between fabrication and craft is thinner than people may think.

  • 03

    Beginners welcome

Every class and every bench assumes you might be starting from zero. Instructors meet you where you are.

  • 04

    Local and open

We serve Lititz, Warwick, Manheim, and surrounding areas. Evening and weekend hours mean making fits around work and school.
